The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Detroit Pistons, 117-113, in overtime during Game 5 of their Eastern Conference semifinal matchup on Thursday morning (PH time) in Detroit.
With the win, Cleveland secured its third straight victory after dropping the first two games of the series.
Detroit built a double-digit lead in the second quarter behind the strong play of Cade Cunningham, but the Cavaliers battled back and turned the game into a back-and-forth affair late in regulation.
Cunningham and Daniss Jenkins sparked a 10-0 run that briefly put Detroit up by six, while Jenkins later completed an and-one play to extend the lead to nine.
However, Cleveland refused to fold as Evan Mobley scored eight straight points to tie the contest at 103 with 45 seconds remaining.
The Cavaliers took control in overtime, opening with six unanswered points. Donovan Mitchell drilled a clutch three before Max Strus came up with a steal that led to another Mitchell basket.
