Bella Belen delivered a standout performance as Team Heart outlasted Team Hustle, 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Star Showcase on Friday night at Candon City Arena.

Capital1’s top overall pick continued to emerge as one of the league’s rising stars, impressing in her first All-Star appearance. She was named All-Star MVP.

Belen also fulfilled a dream of teaming up with Alyssa Valdez, Jia De Guzman and Myla Pablo in the fourth set, where Team Heart pulled away with an 11-1 start.

All-Filipino Most Valuable Player Vanie Gandler delivered timely hits to keep Team Hustle within striking distance, 20-11.

Both teams also involved line judges and volunteers during the match. Valdez and Belen subbed in a volunteer, who eventually scored the game-winning spike.

Even coach Rald Ricafort took a turn serving for Team Heart.

In a tightly contested third set, Team Heart squandered a 23-19 lead due to attack errors, allowing Team Hustle to close within one point. Erika Santos and Belen, however, sealed the set to restore Team Heart’s match advantage, 2-1.
