Alex Eala and Zeynep Sonmez advanced to the round of 16 of the 2026 Madrid Open women's doubles event on Thursday after they defeated Hao-ching Chan and Fanny Stollar 6-2, 6-2 on Court 7 at Caja Magica.
 
Eala and Sonmez took control of the contest after trailing 0-2 in the first set, winning 10 consecutive games to build a 6-2, 4-0 lead. The best friends never looked back after that as they finished the match in one hour and two minutes.

Eala and Sonmez will return to action on Friday for their singles campaigns before resuming their title bid in doubles.
