In their third meeting this season, the New York Knicks will lean on a “next man up” mentality as they visit the Miami Heat on Tuesday (PH time) at Kaseya Center in Florida.
New York took the most recent matchup, a 140–132 win last Saturday. while Miami claimed the first meeting, 115–107, in October.
The Knicks were without starters OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson in that latest victory.
Brunson remains sidelined with the right ankle sprain he suffered in Thursday’s loss to the Orlando Magic, while Anunoby exited their last game with a left hamstring strain and is set to be re-evaluated in two weeks.
“It’s about the next man up. Who that next man is going to be, I don’t know,” New York coach Mike Brown said.
“We have a standard that we all bought into and all embraced, and a way we play offensively and defensively. If we stay within that, good things will happen most times.”
Despite the absences, New York had no trouble generating offense. Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with 39 points, while reserve Landry Shamet added a career-high 36 on 12-of-19 shooting, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.
Josh Hart contributed a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, as the Knicks (8–4) won for the sixth time in their last seven outings.
Meanwhile, the Heat (7–6) is also without stars in Bam Adebayo (toe) and Tyler Herro (ankle).
