In Game 4 of the NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs blew a 29-point lead and fell to the New York Knicks 107-106, now trailing the series 3-1. Spurs star Victor Wembanyama's second-half struggles played a major role in the collapse.
Wembanyama was perfect in the first quarter, going 5-of-7 from the field for 13 points and 3 rebounds, helping the Spurs race out to a 41-22 lead. At halftime, San Antonio led by 27 points — the largest halftime lead ever by a road team in NBA Finals history.
However, after the break, Wembanyama faded dramatically. He made just 3 of his 14 field goal attempts in the second half, scoring only 8 points. In the final 1:47 of the game, Wembanyama missed two critical free throws. He finished the game with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
This postseason, Wembanyama (22 years, 158 days) has surpassed 500 total playoff points, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to reach that mark. He broke LeBron James' previous record (22 years, 159 days) set in 2007. But the young star still has plenty of room to grow.
