The New York Liberty staged a fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Indiana Fever, 83-75, in WNBA Commissioner’s Cup action on Sunday morning (PH time) at Barclays Center.
The Fever controlled much of the contest and carried a slim lead into the final period before the Liberty mounted their rally.
New York pulled within one, 63-62, after a Breanna Jones three-pointer with 5:48 remaining. Kelsey Mitchell answered with a triple of her own out of a timeout, but the Liberty continued to apply pressure.
The game turned into a tense back-and-forth battle down the stretch before Breanna Stewart took over. The former MVP scored key baskets to put New York in front, while Jonquel Jones and Pauline Astier added crucial points to help the Liberty create separation in the closing minutes.
Stewart delivered a stellar all-around performance with 30 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Satou Sabally added 13 points, while Astier chipped in 12.
Mitchell paced Indiana with 21 points and seven rebounds. Caitlin Clark contributed 10 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, but the Fever could not hold off New York's late surge.
