The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-104 on the road in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, taking a commanding 2-0 series lead heading back to Madison Square Garden.
In NBA Finals history, only two teams have previously taken a 2-0 lead on the road: the 1995 Houston Rockets (who went on to sweep the Orlando Magic 4-0) and the 1993 Chicago Bulls (who defeated the Phoenix Suns 4-2). The Knicks now join that elite company.
With the victory, the Knicks extended their playoff winning streak to 13 games — the second-longest single-season playoff winning streak in NBA history. The longest belongs to the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors, who won 15 straight. Additionally, the Knicks now rank second all-time in road playoff wins in a single postseason. Their net efficiency rating (average point differential) this postseason is the highest in NBA history.
