Another key piece of the Rain or Shine roster is out, as big man Luis Villegas will need to rest on the bench for the remainder of the Elasto Painters' best-of-seven semifinals series against perennial contender Barangay Ginebra in the PBA 50 Commissioner's Cup.
The two teams will resume hostilities in Game 2 this Friday at 5:15pm at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The 6-foot-7 forward had to leave in the second half of Game 1 due to a suspected hamstring injury after attempting a fastbreak layup.
While the Elasto Painters still lead the series 1-0 following a thrilling 115-111 victory against the Gin Kings last Wednesday, the absence of Villegas may complicate Rain or Shine's bid to put up a commanding 2-0 series advantage.
ROS head mentor Yeng Guiao, however, is not yet panicking as other big men like Beau Belga could step up. The veteran coach also floated the idea of going with a small ball lineup in Game 2 against Ginebra.
Aside from Villegas, Keith Datu, Stanley Pringle, and rookie Jun Roque, are also recovering from their respective injuries.
