TNT coach Chot Reyes is expecting Meralco to be at its best defensively for their Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) 50 Commissioner's Cup semifinals.

Reyes recalled how the Bolts were physical against their import Bol Manute Bol during their April 7 game in which the Tropang 5G lost, 110-106. During the game, Bol was also limited to 28 points, the lowest the former National Basketball Association player scored this conference.

“They are also one of the more physical teams in the league. You see how the teams are playing Bol, so we have to be able to cope with that and play through that,” said Reyes.

TNT pulled off an upset over the weekend when the No. 8 seed defeated No. 1 NLEX, 118-112. Despite being on a roll, Reyes is wary of No. 4 Meralco, which overcame Magnolia in overtime, 105-102.

Reyes also noted the offensive firepower of Meralco being led by CJ Cansino, Marvin Jones, and Chris Newsome.

“That's a complete team. They are playing at a high level. They have a lot of offensive weapons. It's incumbent upon us to defend well and rebound,” said Reyes.

Game 1 of their semifinals will be on Wednesday, 5:15 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
