The San Antonio Spurs moved to within one win of the Western Conference Finals after dismantling the Minnesota Timberwolves, 126-97, in Game 5 of their semifinal matchup on Wednesday morning (PH time) in San Antonio.
The Spurs went to work early, building a double-digit lead in the first half behind a dominant performance from Victor Wembanyama.
San Antonio widened the gap further in the third quarter, stretching the advantage to as many as 20 points. Minnesota responded with a quick 12-4 rally to trim the deficit to 11, but the Spurs immediately answered back behind the playmaking of De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper.
That burst restored a 20-point cushion with under seven minutes remaining, allowing San Antonio to comfortably close out the game. The Spurs continued piling it on late, eventually pushing the lead to a game-high 30 points in the fourth quarter.

Wembanyama finished with a monster double-double of 27 points and 17 rebounds. Keldon Johnson added 21 points, while Fox chipped in 18 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
The Spurs now hold a commanding 3-2 series lead heading into Game 6 on Saturday in Minneapolis, where the Timberwolves will fight to keep their season alive.
