The San Antonio Spurs headed into the halftime break with a 59-47 lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their Western Conference Semifinals series on Wednesday (PH time) at Frost Bank Center.
All eyes were on Victor Wembanyama as he returned to the starting lineup following his Game 4 ejection for his elbow on Naz Reid.
He sent the Spurs fans into a frenzy with his offensive display in the first quarter, recording 18 points and six rebounds during that period to help San Antonio grab a 34-30 lead.
The Spurs then pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Wolves 25-17 to stretch their lead to a dozen points at the half.
Wemby finished the half with 21 points, while De'Aaron Fox added 12 markers. Ayo Dosunmu led all Minnesota scorers with 9 points. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle had 8 and 6 points, respectively.
