After locking up Steve Kerr on a new two-year contract, the Golden State Warriors are now expected to turn their focus toward franchise icon Stephen Curry.
According to league sources, Golden State and Curry are anticipated to begin extension discussions later this summer following Kerr’s record-setting deal, which will make him the NBA’s highest-paid coach annually. Kerr previously earned $17.5 million per season.
The Warriors’ front office is also expected to aggressively reshape the roster in an effort to remain competitive in a stacked Western Conference and maximize the final years of Curry’s championship window.
Curry is set to earn $62.59 million in the 2026-27 season. Beginning August 30, he becomes eligible to sign a maximum two-year extension worth approximately $136.7 million, including salaries of roughly $65.7 million and $71 million through his age-40 season.
Despite injuries limiting him to 43 regular-season games in 2025-26, Curry remained elite when available, averaging 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in just over 30 minutes per game.
