Laput was a pivotal force in the Lady Spikers’ dethroning of National University in the finals, providing a steady combination of scoring and leadership throughout the championship series where they dominated the Lady Bulldogs.
“We made a promise at the beginning of this season, and this is us fulfilling that promise. We thank you all so much—the La Sallian community—for believing in us from day one,” said Laput.
“We thank the Lord for the gift of talent He gave each and every one of us. We thank our coaches, who believed in us every step of the way. We thank our managers and our sponsors, who also believed in us every step of the way. We couldn’t have done it without all of you. We are so grateful for each and every one of you,” she added.
The La Salle skipper finished with 11 points in their 25-23, 25-18, 25-18 Game 1 win over NU last Wednesday before taking her performance up a notch in Game 2.
In the clincher, Laput fired a game-high 20 points on 14 attacks and six kill blocks as the Lady Spikers completed a 16-0 sweep with a 25-22, 25-16, 25-16 victory against the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday in front of 22,509 spectators.
The 6-foot-2 wing speaker also took home the Best Opposite Spiker award earlier in the day before putting on a huge performance that delivered La Salle its 13th championship.
