Victor Wembanyama delivered the best playoff performance of his young career, powering the San Antonio Spurs to a 115-108 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves with a dominant fourth-quarter takeover.
Wembanyama came out aggressive from the opening tip, throwing down back-to-back alley-oop dunks and finishing the first quarter with 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks as San Antonio raced to a 15-point lead. According to statistics, he became just the second Spurs player since the play-by-play era began in 1996-97 to post at least 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks in a single playoff quarter, joining Tim Duncan.
After Minnesota stormed back in the second quarter, Wembanyama continued to dominate inside, adding 7 points and 4 rebounds before halftime. He stayed in rhythm after the break, entering the fourth quarter with 23 points.
Then came the takeover.
Despite battling foul trouble, Wembanyama exploded for 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks in the final quarter alone. With the Spurs holding a slim two-point lead late, he buried a turnaround fadeaway before knocking down a huge three-pointer off a feed from Devin Vassell to stretch the advantage and silence Minnesota’s rally.
He later sealed the game from the free-throw line.
Wembanyama finished with a monstrous 39 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks on an ultra-efficient 13-of-18 shooting night. The performance placed him in elite playoff company, becoming just the fourth player in NBA postseason history to record at least 35 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks in a game—joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Shaquille O'Neal.
