The Detroit Pistons have rewarded head coach J. B. Bickerstaff with a contract extension, according to Shams Charania. Terms of the deal were not disclosed per team policy.
Bickerstaff has guided Detroit to a 104-60 record over the past two seasons, leading the franchise to back-to-back playoff appearances. Across his NBA coaching career, he owns a 359-350 record with five postseason berths.
This season, the Pistons authored one of the most impressive first-round comebacks, rallying from a 3-1 deficit to eliminate the Orlando Magic in seven games. Detroit now advances to face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the conference semifinals.
On the other side, Orlando has decided to move on from head coach Jamahl Mosley. The decision ends Mosley’s five-year run with the team, during which he led the Magic to three straight playoff appearances from 2023 to 2026.
Despite that consistency, Orlando exits in the first round for the third consecutive year, prompting the organization to make a coaching change following their latest playoff disappointment.
