Love was in the air in Candon City, as Myla Pablo relished her reunion with former coach Rald Ricafort, helping Team Heart capture the Premier Volleyball League All-Star Showcase title on Friday at Candon City Arena.
Pablo contributed to Team Heart’s 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17 win over Team Hustle with 14 points off the bench in a fan-filled exhibition that featured crowd interaction with players, court assistants, and line-judges.
The former league Most Valuable Player credited her strong outing to her familiarity with Ricafort’s system.
“Coach Rald knows how I play, especially since we’ve faced each other before. You can really feel his trust on the court, and that helped me move freely,” Pablo said with a laugh.

“His ‘love’—just kidding—his heart.”
Pablo previously won the 2022 Reinforced Conference title under Ricafort with Petro Gazz. She later added two more championships with the Angels before moving to Nxled.
Ricafort, now with PLDT High Speed Hitters, also guided his current squad to titles in the PVL on Tour and Invitational.
Pablo also enjoyed sharing the court with Alyssa Valdez and All-Star MVP Bella Belen.

“It’s my second time being teammates with Ate Aly, and my first time playing with Bella. It was really fun,” she said. “We had younger players on the court, so as veterans, we tried to guide them.”
Pablo loved the energy from the Candon crowd made the experience even more memorable.
“I’m really happy because there were so many fans. You could see how excited they were. Honestly, it was overwhelming—the volleyball community here is amazing,” Pablo said.
