The Houston Rockets officially ruled out Kevin Durant for their must-win Game 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday (PH time) due to a left ankle sprain.
It is a huge blow for the Rockets, who trail 1-3 in the best-of-seven series. Durant picked up the injury during Game 2, his lone appearance in this playoff matchup against the Lakers. He scored 23 points in that contest, 20 of which came in the first half of Houston’s 94-101 loss.
The Rockets staved off elimination in Game 4 despite missing Durant, recording a convincing 115-96 win over the Lakers. They will have their work cut out for them, however, in Game 5 as the Lakers will host that playoff contest. Los Angeles is 2-0 at home this postseason.
