Head-to-head matchups in 2025-26 season

Houston and LA first squared off on Christmas Day, with the Rockets pulling off a convincing 119-96 victory at Crypto.com Arena.

The Lakers won the season series after taking the next two games in Houston last month. They won 100-92 in their second meeting before recording a 124-116 victory in their regular season finale.

Key players

With Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves both sidelined because of hamstring and oblique injuries, the onus is on 41-year-old LeBron James to carry the Lakers in this series.

James remained one of the league's best players, averaging 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game in his 23rd NBA season.

The Rockets also have an all-time great in their lineup in Kevin Durant, who was listed as questionable for Game 1 due to a knee problem.

Durant led Houston's offense in his first year with the Rockets, averaging 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.
