LaMelo Ball has been fined a total of $60,000 but will not face suspension following his controversial play involving Bam Adebayo, according to Shams Charania.
The NBA handed Ball a $35,000 fine and issued a retroactive Flagrant 2 foul for grabbing Adebayo’s ankle during the Charlotte Hornets’ overtime win over the Miami Heat. Despite the severity of the review, the league opted against suspending the Hornets star.
Ball was also fined an additional $25,000 for using inappropriate language after the game, bringing his total penalties from the incident to $60,000.
The sequence occurred early in the second quarter, when Adebayo went down hard while battling for a rebound and landed on his tailbone in visible pain. He limped to the locker room and was later ruled out for the rest of the game. Replays showed Ball grabbing Adebayo’s ankle just before the fall, though no foul was called during live action.
The league’s decision closes the review process, allowing Ball to remain available as Charlotte continues its play-in push.
