LaMelo Ball went from zero to hero quick in Charlotte’s thrilling 127-126 victory over Miami in their NBA Play-In encounter on Wednesday (PH time), scoring the game-winning layup with 4.7 seconds left to keep the Hornets’ playoff hopes alive.
Ball made amends after his turnover gifted Miami the lead in the closing stages of overtime, receiving the inbounds pass at the top of the key before driving to the basket for the go-ahead deuce.

Ball didn’t hold back when talking to the media after the victory, saying: “On that last game, I just gotta win the game. I feel I f**ked the game up, so I feel like it was my fault, so I gotta make it work."
The Hornets nearly collapsed in the extra period after Ball made a series of errors. Charlotte was up by two points when Ball turned the ball over. He then compounded his woes by fouling Tyler Herro on his 3-point attempt, causing the Heat to regain the lead at 126-125.
Redemption was immediate, though, for Ball, whose late-game heroics ensured Charlotte would live to fight another day. The Hornets will face the loser of the Philadelphia vs. Orlando Play-In match for the right to be the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
