Jimuel Pacquiao, the eldest son of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, made a statement this time.
Fighting with more poise and purpose, the 25-year-old second-generation boxer scored a convincing second-round knockout of American Darrick Gates at the Pechanga Resort and Casino on Saturday.
Pacquiao wasted little time asserting control, breaking Gates down with a crisp four-punch combination to the body before uncorking a wicked right hook that sent the former bare-knuckle fighter to the canvas.

Gates, though clearly hurt and unsteady on his feet, managed to rise—only to be sent back down moments later as Pacquiao pressed the attack and drilled him with another punishing right to the body for the finish.
It was a far cry from his underwhelming pro debut, where he had to settle for a draw against Brendan Lally after nearly absorbing a loss.
This time, Pacquiao left no room for doubt.
Gates, meanwhile, remained winless and fell to 0-2.
