Team USA advanced to the finals of the 2026 World Baseball Classic after defeating the Dominican Republic 2-1 in a tense low-scoring contest on Monday (PH time) at LoanDepot Park.
Gunnar Henderson and Roman Anthony each hit solo homers in the top of the fourth inning to score the Americans’ only runs. That offense was more than enough for the United States as they stifled Dominican Republic’s powerhouse batting lineup with their outstanding pitching.

Paul Skenes provided a quality start for Team USA, allowing just one run on six hits in 4.1 innings. Tyler Rogers, Griffin Jax, David Bednar, Garrett Whitlock, and Mason Miller were superb out of the bullpen, throwing 4.2 shutout innings to seal the narrow victory.
Miller had to dig deep to record the save, striking out Geraldo Perdomo on a controversial 3-2 pitch with the tying run on third base. Miller’s pitch appeared to land below the strike zone, but the umpire called it for a third strike to end the contest in the Americans’ favor.
