The 1v1 King of the Islands National Finals tournament has finally begun. A total of 32 players will take center stage at Market! Market! Activity Center, eight of whom were handed byes to the round of 16.
The remaining 24 players will have to go through the qualifying rounds, with 12 North representatives placed in Groups A, C, E, and G, and 12 South representatives placed in Groups B, D, F, and H.
Group A consists of Gabriel Blake Mendez, Apple Cendana, and Aron Dale Dimaun. Each of those North players will face Group B members Gene Bayonita, Venjie Panla-an, and Alexis Ylanan in a cross-over single round robin format.
Group C consists of Jayson Arceo, Carl Kenneth Sumalacay and Marc Sabado. Each of those North players will square off against Group D’s South members Patrick Dobleros, Danilo Contado, and Jhon Tuburan.
Group E consists of Cedrick Bernardo, Eugene Santua and Khen Palaroan. Each of those players from the North will lock horns against Group F members Jandel Samayla, Ramel Eleguin, and Zhyle Ylaya.
Group G consists of Peter Manalang, Timothy Arlante, and Bryan Banico. Each of those North members will face Group H players Kyan Cabonita, Hangie Bolo, and Aldwin Eleccion.
The top-ranked players in each group will be determined based on their record. In case of a tie for the No. 1 spot, point differential will be used to determine who will be the group winner. In case there is still a tie between the players based on point differential, a free throw shootout will be used to determine the group winner.
The eight group winners in the qualifying rounds will be given spots in the National Finals round of 16.
