Filipino prospect McLeary Ornido absorbed a tough setback on the supporting card of Lemino Shooto 3, which took place at the historic Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday. The 22-year-old Cavite native suffered a first-round submission loss to hometown favorite Shohei Nose, tapping out to a painful Kimura lock.Ornido showed early intent, coming out aggressive at the opening bell. He immediately made his presence felt by landing a crushing high kick that connected cleanly with Nose’s head.

Aware of the danger in prolonged exchanges on the feet, Nose quickly adjusted his approach by changing levels and shooting for a takedown. On the mat, the Japanese veteran clamped down on Ornido, who actively searched for openings to escape and regain position.
Ornido briefly turned the tide by reversing the position and earning top control, but Nose remained composed. Leaning on his superior grappling, the Japanese fighter swiftly isolated Ornido’s arm and locked in the Kimura.
Despite a valiant effort to fight out of the submission, Ornido was forced to endure relentless pressure as Nose torqued the hold from multiple angles.
With the pain escalating and his arm in clear danger, Ornido had no choice but to submit.
The win pushed Nose’s record to 15-7-2, while Ornido saw his slate fall to 6-2 following the heartbreaking defeat.
